Life Vol.2, This is my comic strip compilation, with a theme around social, humanity, life, and solitude. Life Vol. 1 was released on 2008 with love and life theme. So if you already read the first one, there's a big difference, first edition was full in love, and now this one is not. lol.

so i bought a book called "Drawing Lovers" from Ical , a book about drawing compilation from ISI (Insitut Seni Indonesia) student. And got a cute bonus, a drawing book, but this drawing book is usually used for kindergarden kids for drawing, so the paper is only about -80gr. You can't paint with watercolour too wet, or it's gonna make a hole in the paper. Rough paper.

so i think fast, what can i do with this 20 pages of paper, so it's kinda fast drawing, fast thinking, fast writing that I done this for 4 hour. If i name this style i'll name it "Grindrawing" (lol.. from Grindcore).

the story is about choises. and yes, life is cruel.

So i made this, and sent it to Fur Magazine editor's address by shipping service, and SADLY this LETTERS never been sent to the address >:(

This is participation for Sunday 13th, an inisiative movement with all street artist from Indonesia (im not street artist, i join for the same purpose, equality to all the people). Berbeda dan Merdeka 100% (Different and Liberated 100%) is a simple words to reminding people that we need to give a spaces to a differences and stay to be liberated person.

I made this from used magazine and newspaper, the concept is simple, we read many different articles on newspaper and magazine, thats the differences part, and the Liberate part is from how i create all of this.

I did this all by myself, on beautiful sunday morning for about a half hours.

Jakarta 32ºc: Jakarta: Smile or Die Tryin'

This is my submission to Jakarta 32ºc Exhibition in National Gallery, 28 December - 12 January 2011.

Me under the name of Al Terego (with my two friends), made a concept which is visualized 'what is jakarta in your eyes and mind". I came up with the idea of peoples who work in the streets everyday, sometimes i saw them smiling even they always got the pollution, smoke, and sunlights. And my two friends mentioned some of the 'hard-workers'.

so here it is my concept of "Three Phrase of Life". as you can see there's somekind of rail, from top to under. I made this an ordinary story to this number. you know, simple is.. Born, Work, and Death. Repeat.

very simple. Everyone does. don't you boring with this phrase?lol

and here we goes the story:

Born, grow up. Walking, this kid ride his bike to a school, say bye to his mom. on his way to school.

wow, now, he's a teenage. It's his first date. But he don't forget to study, to go into college.

time move so fast, now he's graduated.Then on his way to city, find a job, get married.

Happiness time! got married, have a babies. See them grow up. Till he's very old. and come to the end of his day. Death.

So About The Drunker want to make a mini album about last Ramadhan Phenomenon, you know some celebrities, make a religion music album, everyone want to be seen "holy", and all that shit stuff, About The Drunker don't see that thing as the truth what's inside, but to get more money, and fame.

The artwork is about the break fasting in the middle of the day. Most of kids, i think did that every ramadhan, but what if mature people? yeah i want to tell about, every mature people is like a little kids, they want money, to have fun, they are work with no responsibilities, go home before the office hour done, yeah it's about the fuckin government and stuff.

And the recording was Ultra-DIY, no high-tech recording machine, only with simple recorder, i edited it with free-software, print it with my home printer, burn it with free burn software iTunes.

Hack Job is the collaboration project of booooooom.com and converse, for promoting the new converse skateboard shoes, so everyone building awesome skateboards out of any random materials we can get our hands on!

i didn't win, but it's oke! The Participant comes from all over the world. It's a great honour to be a part of them.

my Skateboard is from Triangle Paper clip, and watercolour cap, i glued it with double tape.

the twister

so here's a little story,this kid want to play the traditional theme park near his house. The theme park only have two games vehicle. but he feels oke, Dufan is far away from his house, and he don't have much money to buy the ticket there. So he pay for only Rp.3000,- to the ticket box, the full of rust ticket box, with old painted.

he and other friends, already get on the vehicle, lets we call this The Twister. a fully non-machine vehicle, power by strong mans who roll the vehicle so the kids can have fun and get the adrenaline rush.

and now here it goooess!! the twister rollin!! everyone screaming "aaaaaaa" with smiles on their face, eyes shut, and holding onto the grip, cause there are no safety safebelt

owh there's a group of man in the inside of the Twister, they're standing strong watch the kids, and secure them all. Prepare anything dangerous happens.

after the vehicle stop, the kids have their fun time, have a story to tell for tomorrow morning in the school. :D

so, im participating in this mini exhibition, the concept is quiet unique, all of artworks must be laminated by laminators, or any other stuff that uniting two or more material or layers together. in Indonesia lamination process often use for identity card, photo, certificate and many important stuff so they can't be damaged.

a dude email me, that he as the hardcore gigs crew want my illustration to be in their poster, and they're from Slovakia, in europe. I said "waw.. its a great honour to be the part of their scene.. especially DIY movement.." then i replied to 'em " yes!". But i request one thing, to capture the final poster that put in the venue.

after two weeks, they email me. and i surprise the poster was put in a very hardcore place, a real venue gigs. that's awesome!

the show took place in OBLUDA KLUB in Bratislava,Slovak Republic last friday. He said that "there have been 100 kids inside, really hot weather here that day and people have fun" :) nicenicenice.

About the illustration is my old work, i made this about two years ago. They found this illustration in my deviantart. The object is Ray Cappo when he's in Shelter.

I only did for the illustration, not the design.

Setelah bersabar yang sangat sabar. Akhirnya komik ini sampai juga ke tangan saya, berbarengan dengan komik kompilasi anak ganteng, yang isinya kocak-kocak (punya gw doang yang agak serius..wkakaak). Jadi awalnya gw di sms-in sama Kuro. Nanya mau ikutan kompilasi komik ga. gw bilang ikut lah! secara gw suka yang namanya berkarya. Gw pikir awalnya nih proyek maen-maen, alias seneng-seneng, eh pas gw chat sama yang ngurus Tintha, ternyata nih serius, dan terinspirasi juga dari MANDOR (terharu,..). Ya udah gw bikin deh komik 15 halaman ini. Dengan tema surabaya, dan gw sempet stuck lama banget dengan tema ini, ga tau sama sekali, sehingga jadilah komik cerita garing ini.

It call ironic, Because, everyone is have an ironic side theirselves. Like,Arrogant.Like one swan is so proud if he always update his status in facebook and twitter.hehe. but why i draw a swan? because i follow the theme, is Roots Of the Culture, so i mixed with urban thing (see baloon text), and i i modified the swan into "now" style, i found this swan in Batik Book.

hehe, pasti mikirnya "apaan nih..si toro belum jadi apa-apa uda sok-sokan bikin ginian,,kaya jago aja tuh anak!!", Tapi ini emang yang terjadi. jadi gini, waktu acara pameran di Kampus gw, gw ditunjuk sebagai koordinator workshop Komik Strip yang nantinya akan dijadikan ke atas kain untuk dibatik pada acara "konversi batik". Dan gw pun menunjuk teman-teman gw yang lain, antara lain Griksa dan Atrey.

Karena yang lain pada ga ada persiapan, gw pun membuat instruction book ini dalam 3 halaman. dengan simpel dan mudah dimengerti, dikarenakan yang akan membaca itu anak-anak yang sama sekali buta sama komik, ataupun jarang membuat komik namun suka membaca, ya hasilnya lumayan, ada beberapa anak menggambar dengan gaya gw. hhihi..

after idul fitri me and my college friends, planned about hunting photography, while we are in holiday. So we meetup in McDonald's Thamrin. But not all friend that accepted the invitation, only six from us. but one is not join with us. So we planned to get the unknown place, when no one take photo there. And we found this train warehouse in the way we go to harbour in Sunda Kelapa. Someone said this place is haunted. But i dont think so. This place is great, classic, and trash! so i took my camera, point and shoota!enjoy!

It is obvious that people are not responsible with their drinking, and are bringing it onto the people around them. Alcohol remains the number one cause of all crime.

and over 200 car accident in 2 years is because Alcohol Consumption.

So why you still drinking alcohol? stay sober is really cool i think. And promise me, its never risky someone else's life.

ya, gambar diatas adalah seorang tokoh dari video klip band Vegan Hardcore amrik yang juga legendary hardcore band, EARTH CRISIS. band favorit gw, Selalu kontroversial dan juga sarat akan pesan. Sebagai band positif dan agak militan. Video ini adalah dari album terbarunya setelah 9 tahun lalu bubar, dan reunite lagi dan mengeluarkan album 'to the death', menurut gw salah satu album metalcore terbaik tahun ini. Ini adalah single andalan di album terbaru yaitu To Ashes.

Diawal videoklip ada potongan interview, yang menjadi pembuka dari keseluruhan inti dari cerita video ini. Yang berkonsep Dokumenter. Seorang Straight Edger yang muak akan lingkungan sekitarnya, yang seolah tak perduli dengan aktivitas bandar narkoba di lingkungannya, bahkan polisi pun tahu namun tak peduli, dan juga memakan korban yaitu adiknya yang sudah terlanjur menjadi junkie akan obat-obatan. Semakin lama semakin kesal, sehingga ia nekat membakar gudang penyimpanan para bandar narkoba menyimpan narkotikanya. Sehingga ia ditangkap polisi karena dianggap telah melakukan tindakan kriminal dengan membakar gudang dengan sengaja, DAN BUKAN KARENA DI GUDANG ITU TERDAPAT BERATUS KILO NARKOTIKA!! selebihnya nonton aja videonya.

intinya sih, zaman sekarang udah ga ada lagi yang bisa dipercaya, bahkan hukum sekalipun, walaupun apa yang lo lakuin sebenernya benar, belum tentu di mata orang lain engga. Dan betapa berharganya arti sebuah keluarga. Coba bayangin kalo aja ada anggota keluarga lo terlibat kasus obat-obatan, minuman keras, dan segala tindakan kriminal lainnya, ya emang lo malu, tapi secara naluri lo emang harus melindungin. Makanya jauhin lah barang-barang setan kaya gitu, just stay positive, will lead you to a better life, and always take care of your family, and friends, There's nothing precious than those people in our life huh? Gw ikut acara mural yang diadakan oleh (pãch'wûrk'), sebuah toko yang menurut gw unik selain menjual baju-baju mereka juga menjual karya-karya semacam ilustrasi yaang dibingkai gitu. Dan barang-barang second yang langka juga. Nah dalam menyambut pembukaan ini mereka membuat acara mural yang dinamakan Lets Paint the Wall, sebelumnya juga diadakan submission siapa aja yang mau ikut, dan gw lolos. heheh. Java Rockin'Land

Waktu itu teman saya, Allan Rinaldi, memberitahukan bahwa ada lowongan menjadi fotografer di JavaRockin'Land. Langsung aja gw kirim Porto gw ke email orangnya. Eh ternyata saya diterima. Awalnya uda mau beli untuk hari kedua, buat nonton secondhand serenade. Akhirnya briefing lah, dijelasin apa-apa aja yg mesti dilakuin. Dan ternyata yang diterima itu semua adalah Fotografer Official Acara itu. It means, mendapat All Access, seperti panitia inti lainnya. Gw pikir JFP (java festival production) uda ada fotografer resmi buat acaranya. Secara bukan acara maen-maen. Seneng lah gw. Itung-itung ngisi liburan semester gw dengan hal yang berguna.

Tapi sayangnya gw cuman sampe dua hari aja. Karena hari ketiga mesti jadi panitia dan manggung sama sepupu gw lainnya di acara pesta nikahan sepupu gw. Mr.Big aja gw lewatin hari itu..

Asiknya, gw dapet banyak temen baru. Terutama dalam hal fotografi, dan gw bareng terus sama tiga orang yang tadinya unknown banget tiba-tiba jadi akrab. Dan tentu gw yang paling muda. Makanya suka rada bengong sendiri, dan ga nyambung. Udah gitu gear mereka canggih-canggih semua. Bahkan gw merasa kecil sendiri. Tapi ya, gw ga peduli lah. Yang penting gw foto dan foto. Kalo make gear yang gila-gilaan tapi ga bisa mikir konsep foto ya sama aja boong. ya ga?

ini ada beberapa shot favorit gw. Waktu disana. Agak sulit mengambil momen yang crucial di tiap bandnya. Soalnya cuman dikasih dua lagu pertama. Untuk foto di bawah panggung. Sementara lagu-lagu andalan dimainkan ketika mau habis.

Jadi ini sebenernya adalah karya kolaborasi antara Irfan Fatchu Rahman dengan saya dan bersama artis lain. Waktu itu dia meminta saya untuk membuat sebuah karya dengan design kartu pos yang dia kasih berupa fotografi dari kota lama semarang. Ya sudah saya bikinlah. Dan ini adalah Tugas Akhir dia kuliah. Selain saya ada beberapa artist lain yang ikut seperti, Aji AS, Anugrah Himawan, Damar Ardi, Diani Anggita,Frieda Amalia, Ima Fitriana, Kresnanto "Poel", Krisna Murti, Lina Nurdiana,Norman "Norama", Restu Ratnaningtyas, M. morning, i woke up with a bad news. I saw news, and shocked, another bomb again????at the same hotel?whatthe...!!And the first thing gone out from my head is.."please, dont judge Islam..please..". And the afternoon i saw news again, some reporter said, that the bomber is a moslem terorrist. "damn!, islam bad again..". I just still asking why, why everyones is hate everyone, why people dont live with other people peacefully,why prayers are never being a good prayer, so God dont wanna fulfill their pray? why?

Its like Cat, Islam sometimes being a good news to everyone, goodness to every people, other religion praise Islam, but fastly, Islam could turn into a monster Religion, full of hate, that can claw you in a minute. I hate it. I love Islam, the true Islam, not in what terorrist did, to kill other people.

i believe if we respect each other, we will got the respect itself to ourselves.

i love the video so much, there's so much people that really real in the real life, i like all the 'life' stuff. and this video is one of them. You must watch it.

Info: i draw it without any sketch with pencil, i just draw it with drawing Pen 0.3 with watch the video over and over again, and then i coloured it in PS.

hehehe..komik buaya laskar pelangi gw muncul di unklchronicles edisi OK.Video. Jadi waktu itu si dias bilang ada kabar baik, gw disuruh dateng ke RURU. Disana ketemu sama Indra Ameng sama Harlan Boer. Dia bilang mau masukin komik ini ke newsletter karena mereka anggep komik ini berhubungan dengan film dan komedi.Jadi deh beberapa bulan kemudian komik ini masuk di newsletternya.

Here are my works at TPS#2 Exhibition:

"Life Is Hard Enough"

This is by Wood and I Painted it. The concept is because this exhibition is talk about national election. So I Talk about the universal thing about National Election. When everyone said, "Dont Choose Anything!!", Everyone scream " Fuck the National Commission!!they are Cheating!!", " Fake Party Organizations!!!", and everything. So i Just said "LIFE IS HARD ENOUGH,WHY DONT WE JUST TAKE IT EASY,stop yelling, and screaming for nothing". Because it is not the first happening, its from a long time ago, Since People become the voters. Cheat will always exist, Just think about yourself, and survive from all the conditions, and i believe you'll be the human for real.

"Support Pemilu"

The right title for me is " long way to an election". But Griksa love "support pemilu" title. Griksa worked on the Left frame, Dimgras on the middle, and me on the right frame. If you see the detail, first frame (Griksa), is when peoples Print a poster, and take it to all the party supporters, the middle is when peoples put the posters, banner and everything on the street , and the last (my part) is when people after finished election, the road was empty, and everyone love at their home, or go to holiday with family.

So lets go to TPS#2!!!
it's at Institut Kesenian Jakarta, only from 2 June, until 12 June.

Aksi Mural Bersama

Jadi kemaren itu gw dikagetin oleh telepon dari temen gw "tor, apa-apaan sih..Mandor ada acara mural gw ga diajak-ajak!!", gw kaget, mural apaan. Gw langsung cek lah di Internet, eh bener ada poster berjudul "aksi mural bersama" yang dibuat oleh d.A.T.a sebuah EO yang dibuat anak muda berbakat Yudha(abu-abu kelabu) dan Tata Bahasa (yang ini famous di Facebook.hahah). Jadi di poster itu (bisa diliat di blog Mandor ) ada acara mural yang dibarengi kompetisi BMX nasional yang diresmiin sama Fauzi Bowo.

Di mural itu diikuti oleh , Artcoholic, Deka, Jah Ipul, Time Bomb, Isrol, Bujangan Urban, Media Legal dan Mandor (Toro, Godit, Dimgras).

Dan minggu paginya gw berjanji sama diri sendiri untuk naik sepeda dari rumah (pondok bambu Jakarta Timur), ke MT.Thamrin karena hari itu adalah CarFreeDay. Bangun lah gw pagi-pagi, mengambil SELI (sepeda lipet) saya, dan berdoa supaya kuat sampe sana. Berangkatnya sih masih kuat. Setelah sampai disana, dan bermural diatas kain Blacu yang ngeselin dengan panas yang terik dan angin yang sepoi-sepoi dengan derasnya. Membuat gambar menjadi tidak tenang.

Dan gw pun hanya menyelesaikan satu objek, karena ga kuat panas, seperti juga yang lain, karena dengan kondisi iklim yang tidak begitu kondusif. Jadilah mural yang setengah-setengah dan juga 'fine-art' banget.

Gambar diatas itu belum jadi final (ngambil di facebook orang), dan gw ga mempunyai foto yang sudah jadi, karena ga bawa kamera.

Selesai mural gw pulang bersepeda lagi dan menyerah ketika sampai di Casablanca dan memanggil Bajaj untuk sampai kerumah lagi.

haha..

Tapi overall acaranya seru, ditambah aksi-aksi BMX yang keren punya, dan bermural bersama orang-orang yang sudah mempunyai pengalaman dibidang StreetArt.

I dont know,even this band is broke up. I still love them. So i bought a Plain Hoodie in SENEN,
Then i Went to ComputerEmbroider Center, near my house, so i create the logo and the Quote from the LIYW song (Threads of Sincerity) for the back.

LIFE IN YOUR WAY there, not only means the band, but the philosophy, that i live in HIS way, and always to be positive. And the Back "Im learning to live the way i should, Im learning the way you would" means, that i always live to learning what happened to my past, And i Always learning the LOVE from what HE gave to us, to People, And everything.
